IFP School at the The Spark Ignition Engine of the Future congress

    December 18, 2013

IFP School took part in the international congress "The Spark Ignition Engine of the Future" organized by the Société des Ingénieurs de l’Automobile (SIA) from 4 to 5 December 2013 in Strasbourg.

This congress, co-chaired by Pierre Duret, Director of the Center for IC Engines and Hydrocarbon Utilizations at IFP School, Federico Millo, Associate Professor at Politecnico di Torino and Amin Velji, Professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, gathered together 200 experts in powertrains, particularly car manufacturers, auto parts manufacturers, engineering companies and universities, from 14 countries.

It was the opportunity to present the programs offered by IFP School in the field of powertrains and products ("Energy and products", "Powertrain Engineering" and "Energy and Powertrains") on the stand which grouped Powertrain Technologies in IFP Energies nouvelles.

The aim of this biennial congress is to present the latest technological advances in the field of spark ignition engines. This year, four subjects were at the center of discussions: downsizing of engines, innovations in fuel injection, new combustion processes and the issue of particulate emissions from direct injection engines.
