IFP School wins the 2014 EAGE FIELD Challenge

    June 27, 2014

Three students of the 2014 IFP School Class won the international Field Challenge (Fully Integrated EvaLuation and Development) of the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE).

Adedimeji Adeyemi (Nigeria), Maria Luz Molinari (Argentina) et Juan David Morales Gomez (Colombia), students of the Reservoir Geoscience and Engineering (RGE) program, analyzed and presented a development plan for the Draugen field in the North Sea.

The final competition took place on June 16th in Amsterdam during the 76th annual conference of the EAGE. Five other institutions took part in the competition: the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, ESPCI ParisTech, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Technion Israel Institute of Technology and the University of Calgary. The latter did not participate in the final round.

The Field Challenge is an annual competition which promotes the integration and association of geoscience and reservoir engineering in universities worldwide.

The competition was comprised of two stages. The finalists were selected after having submitted a 300-word essay on the following topic: "Making the most of what you have".

They then worked on geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering data provided by Shell and presented their findings to a jury of nine academic and industrial experts (including Total, CGG, Shell and WesternGeco).

This is not the first time that EAGE recognizes the work of IFP School students. The School won the international Field Challenge in 2011 and a gained special mention at the Field Challenge in 2013.

    Congratulations to the winners!
