Students from the PWT program visit the Fonderie du Poitou Fonte

    July 8, 2015

The students from the Powertrain Engineering (PWT) program visited the Fonderie du Poitou Fonte in Ingrandes-sur-Vienne on 25 June 2015.

This smelter factory is specialized in the design, development and manufacturing of cast iron cylinder blocks for vehicle manufacturers (which includes liners, pistons, the connecting rod, the crankshaft and other mechanical parts that constitute the engine block of an internal combustion engine).

It has a production capacity of 80 000 tons per year, or 2 million casings. The smelting works supplies around 13% of the European market’s cylinder blocks for cars.
