Student trip in Italy for the Energy and Powertrains program

    October 20, 2015

Students from the new 2016 Class following the IFP School “Energy and Powertrains” program went to Italy from 28 September to 2 October 2015 for a study and integration trip. They discovered a wide range of companies (Kohler Lombardini, Ducati, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, VM Motori of the Fiat Chrysler Automobile group and Wartsilä) illustrating the numerous possible applications of engines (small and large industrial engines, marine engines, motorbike and car engines). These visits enabled the students to discover production and manufacturing sites and associated R&D centers. The excellent reception and the wealth of techniques encountered during these visits were extremely stimulating for the students.

A meeting with Thierry Baritaud, Head of Energy Recovery and Advanced Systems Ferrari, Jean-Jacques His (MOT 1972), Director of Powertrain Ferrari, and around ten former students now working at Ferrari and Maserati, was organized in Bologna. The students very much appreciated this opportunity to share views with their elders on current issues concerning the sector and on career prospects.
