2nd gathering of the SPE France Student Chapters

    May 18, 2016

On Saturday 19th March 2016 the 2nd gathering of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) France Student Chapters took place at the Château de Vert-Mont at Rueil-Malmaison. The idea was for IFP School and the four other Student Chapters of the SPE France (Centrale Supelec, Mines ParisTech, Université de Lorraine, Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour) to convene. The highlight of the day was the participation of the students in the latest edition of the Reservoir Box Challenge game. Its objective: allowing the teams of students to simulate the production of an oil reservoir. This game, now patented, was created two years ago by IFP School engineering students Florian Driff and Gabriel Dubrule, and aptly reactivated this year by Thibault Champavert and Thibault Vinet, students in the Petroleum Engineering and Project Development (DEG) program. The activity took place in a pleasantly competitive spirit and whose progress you can discover below.

Welcomed by Philippe Pinchon, Dean of IFP School, the students from the five French Student Chapters were able this year to make the most of the high-ranking personalities from SPE International (Nathan Meehan), the European SPE (Matthias Meister) and the French SPE (Jean-Marc Donadille, Jean-Marc Dumas and Jean-Pierre Deflandre). Proof as it were of their keen interest in this day… and in the game!

An SPE Student Chapter gathers students from an Engineering School in the field of Exploration & Production. A way for them to start building their professional network early on; the IFP School SPE Student Chaptercounts 175 members to this day and is active on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
