The ASIP-IFP School sailboat in the 2016 French “Voile Habitable en Entreprise" championship

    October 28, 2016

Following a 2nd position at the Coupe du pétrole 2015 which took place in England flying the colors of ASIP (IFPEN Sports’ society) and IFP School, the team qualified for the “Voile Habitable en Entreprise" championship. This competition, gathering 20 of the best sailing teams, was run this year in the Mediterranean Lavandou area.

The team was made up of the sailor/tactician Pierre Duret (Director of the Center for IC Engines and Hydrocarbon Utilizations) who has been sailing since his childhood, and who was representing the IFP School part of the team along with Nicolas Grimaud (student in the same Centre). Bertrand Gatellier (head of program at the IFPEN Transport Department), coxswain and skipper of the boat. Michel Castagné (research department project manager) was in charge of the sails with the help of Jean Marc Gratien (research department engineer). Corinne Fichen (Quality manager) was “halyard's man”, which requires strong organization skills. Last but not least, Victor Dupin (research engineer) was number 1 (bowman).

The team was ranked 7th according to the FFSE (Fédération Française du Sport en Entreprise) ranking for which all rounds count, and 8th in the FFV (Fédération Française de Voile) ranking. There are now great hopes to reach the podium of the French championship (Championnat de France) just like in 2006.
